COMMON QUESTIONS

14 questions
What does “Unaltered” mean?
The seal is valid and the file matches its signed record: nothing has changed since the shutter was pressed. This confirms a match to that record, not that the scene was real or that it was not a recapture.
Why does my photo say “Inconclusive”?
The app cannot establish a trustworthy match. The file may have no credential, its credential may be unreadable, or the sharing app may have compressed or converted it. A photo from the native Camera app is not automatically a LightSeal-sealed photo. Inconclusive does not mean tampered.
Does Portrait mode mean my photo was edited?
No. A Photos adjustment record alone does not prove you manually edited a photo. A native Camera portrait without a LightSeal credential cannot be verified. If the current Photos version differs from a sealed original, use the original file or its envelope.
What is an envelope?
An envelope is a file package that carries the sealed original photo or video. Its file extension is .lightseal. Because it travels as a file, chat apps deliver it without recompressing the photo or video inside. Save it as a file and open it with LightSeal.
How should I send a sealed photo?
Choose by how you are sending it. Chat apps such as Messages, WhatsApp, WeChat, or QQ compress photos and videos, which breaks the seal, so use Share envelope. AirDrop and email attachments deliver the file as-is, so Share original also works; in Mail, choose Actual Size for photos. If you are not sure, send the envelope. Avoid screenshots and converted exports. Share verification steps separately if the recipient needs instructions.
Where is an AirDropped photo?
An AirDropped image usually goes into the system Photos app. In LightSeal, choose the Library tab → the album menu → Recently Added. That album follows addition order, so a newly received file can appear near the top even if it has an older capture date.
Where is LightSeal in the system share menu?
Select one photo, video, or envelope, open Share, and look for LightSeal under More. The extension verifies the file provided by the sharing app. If that app provides a converted copy, share the original or envelope from Files instead.
How do I choose an album?
In LightSeal’s Library tab, tap the album name. Browse Quick Access, Media Types, or My Albums. Album covers help you find the right collection, and folders open into their contents.
Why can I see a photo in Photos but not in LightSeal?
Check Settings → Apps → LightSeal → Photos. Limited access only exposes the photos you selected for the app. If you grant full access, choose the correct album and return to LightSeal to refresh. Use Recently Added for received or imported images.
Why is capture unavailable?
Check camera permission and the remaining free allowance. If location or trusted time is enabled but cannot complete, sealing can fail. Review optional capture information in Settings, and check the network if trusted time is on.
Why is a free video limited to 60 seconds?
The one-time free allowance includes two videos of up to 60 seconds each. This is a free-plan limit. Pro removes that duration limit; available storage and device conditions still affect recording.
How do I restore a purchase?
Use Restore purchases in LightSeal Settings while signed into the Apple Account used for the purchase. Apple manages purchase and subscription status. If product information is unavailable, check connectivity and try again.
How do I cancel a subscription?
On iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → LightSeal. Cancellation stops a future renewal. A lifetime purchase does not renew. Refund requests are handled by Apple.
Are photos uploaded during verification?
LightSeal verifies files on the device and does not upload photos or videos to its servers. Issuance uses Apple App Attest. Optional trusted time sends hashes to timestamp authorities. Enabled location and other metadata travel with the file you share.
